Priority Ambulance is now hiring Ambulance Operators to drive the ambulances in accordance with the recent executive order in Tennessee.  The Ambulance Operator position is a fantastic first step in your EMS career journey to be a full-time employee of Priority Ambulance receiving your EMT certification.
 
The ambulance operator will function as a non-medical driver/support to Intermediate and Advanced emergency medical services personnel in daily functions. This support includes but is not limited to driving, performing CPR, collection of required patient documents and property, following all policies concerning HIPAA, Customer service and Standard operating procedures. Training will be provided to applicants seeking employment for this position.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Respond to all calls for service dispatched from the communications center as directed.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license, complying with all state and local laws, while safely escorting EMT and Patients according to SOP and protocols as approved by the medical director.
  • Ensures ambulance and all equipment is cleaned and checked daily. Any deficiencies should be reported immediately to the shift supervisor.
  • Prepares and completes appropriate reports including exposure reports, incident reports, daily, weekly, and monthly unit check offs.
  • Ensures unit and crew members adhere to company policies, procedures, guidelines, directives, and standards. Reports any deficiencies to the shift supervisor.
  • Ensures vehicle complies with required laws, rules license, and regulations as outlined by the State of Tennessee and other authorized agencies.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at work and mandatory meetings.
  • Maintain a state of readiness and professionalism while on-duty.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while in company uniform either on or off duty.
  • Self-motivated and requires little supervision and direction.
  • Performs other such duties as may be required.
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older. 
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (provided during training)

The Priority Ambulance Training Academy is proud to present a paid training opportunity through accelerated 8-week EMT class beginning in early spring. No previous EMS or health care experience required! Priority Ambulance will pay for all course tuition, materials, testing and certification fees, as well as provide a classroom wage as a full-time employee with full benefits package from day one of the program!
 
Priority is seeking driven, dedicated candidates interested in taking the first step to join the emergency medical services industry. Your EMT certification is the first step in a career in EMS or can be a steppingstone to careers in public safety and health care.
 
To remove all financial barriers to your healthcare career, tuition, course materials and testing fees are paid for Priority Ambulance, and students will become a full-time employee receiving an initial classroom hourly wage and full benefits to remove financial burdens of starting your career in EMS! Our EMT Course is held in conjunction with Roane State Community College and follows the National Standard Curriculum as defined by the NREMT. 
 
How much does it cost?
  • FREE tuition & certification fees (National Registry, Tennessee) 
  • Hourly wage for classroom/ride-along time + benefits package with a two-year commitment.
  • Upon passing exam, EMTs are ready to work on an ambulance making up to $30,000 a year with room to grow up to $45,000 with additional shift-friendly, sponsored paramedic certification.

Course Description:
Our EMT Course follows the National Standard Curriculum as defined by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (www.nremt.org). Upon successful completion of our program, you will have the necessary skills and knowledge to pass both the cognitive and psychomotor exams required by NREMT. Priority Ambulance will cover costs of National Registry and state EMT certifications. All of your clinical 3rd rides will be completed on our 911-Advanced Life Support and BLS Ambulances. Being able to provide you real-life emergency experience is what sets our programs apart from others. You will be actively engaged and challenged to be a part of “our team”.

Definition:
 
Provides scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services and delivers the passenger to the appropriate location.
 
Responds to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide medical transportation services.
 
Provides safe medical team and/or passenger movement from/to wheelchair/stretcher at home, hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities.
 
Provides passenger safety monitoring, enroute to destination and during transportation to, from and/or between facilities.
 
Provides passenger monitoring per state law, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines.
 
Performs other duties as directed.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Clean driving record
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
  • Currently certified in CPR by the AHA or other appropriate organization.
  • Currently certified in First Aid by the ARC or other appropriate organization.
  • Must become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician within one year of hire.
  • Currently licensed with the appropriate level of state motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Currently has a clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer.
  • Most successfully complete a CEVO ambulance driver safety classroom and practical course.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff.
  • Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with passengers, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect positively on the company.
  • Must demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high quality passenger care.
 
Physical Requirements:                      
  • The ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • The ability to reach, push and pull.
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty.
